COMPOSER AND ARRANGER
Barry is a graduate of the Grove School of Music Los Angeles in Arranging and Composition and studied under Dick Grove himself. Being in Los Angeles afforded him the opportunity to learn from and meet and mix with some of the worlds most successful commercial arrangers and composers including Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel, Bob Florence Bill Conti, Clare Fischer, David Raksin and many others. He also studied conducting with the legendary Jack Feireman, who conducted for Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis and Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. Although Jack is now semi retired he and Barry still remain great friends. Barry’s writing credits vary from scoring for production shows at the Casino in Monte Carlo to the new Richard O’Brien musical “The Stripper. He composed all the music for the ITV series “Midas Touch” as well as composing bits of incidental music for the Paul O’Grady show. As well as writing for theatre and television he has arranged in an array of musical styles and for numerous artists from Helen Shapiro to Brian Conley. As director of his own production company, BR Music Productions, he has written the lion share of music for their whole portfolio of shows. Whilst he is very much up to date with today’s’ technology and uses the latest version of Sibelius score writing software he is very much “old school” and plied his trade in the days of pencil and score paper.
